And not in a nice way.  I've just tried to enjoy the benefits of a wireless connection by taking my little computer outside to inhale some nicotine and continue typing.

There was a flaw in my plan.

I didn't account for the teeming Texas bugs that attacked my feet.  Itch, feet is thy name.  I could rub the skin off right now.  No amount of anti-itch cream has helped.  Instead I've got three different  places on each foot that were attacked by mosquito in the 10 minutes I was outside. 

Serves me right for leaving the comforting cave.

The military must have put some eerie anti-bug screen over Killeen. My friends in Waco are bemoaning the crickets, you are being attacked by mosquitos, and here? Nothing. I've had the back door open all afternoon and it's downright bucolic.

On the other hand? No good restaurants.

Is your town a West Nile risk? In Michigan, we're considered an area at risk for West Nile virus (some birds have died but I don't think there's been any human cases this year), so a lot of towns spray the insides of their sewers and do other stuff to kill the skeeters.

Try rubbing ice on your feet. It does something to the bites and makes them itch less. Then put some aloe vera gel on your feet and sit in front of a fan.

All I have to say is that you must taste yummy. They don't like me so much. Which is a good thing, I suppose. My mother-in-law puts meat tenderizer on the bites. Never tried it, so I don't know if it will work.
