Please stop posting on cyberpunk .  I'm really really tired of your horrible wanking.  Especially since you like to dress yourself up in the postmodernist cloak and pretend you know what the fuck you're talking about.  You don't.  You really really don't.  I wish you'd shut up and die somewhere.  Preferably not on-list, so I wouldn't have to read your trite, badly phrased, idiotic soliloquy. 

You're the kind of nutso that gives postmodernism it's bad name.  We have enough trouble getting people to read the theory and understand the terms without your additional confusion.  Get a dictionary, learn to say what you mean and mean what you say, and come back in 10 or 15 years.

Well, sorry to have disappointed you, but I actually defended the guy. I'm a pretty generous reader, and there seems to be far worse there, not in the least on the pretension front. Me, what I like to do is, slip in, see what people are interested in, make a few suggestions, every so often I'll amke an actual Statement of some sort, but if there's one thing i can't resist, it's standing up for an underdog. He at least doesn't seem to be insulting anyone, does take up the topics at hand, and, if you so desire, easy enough to ignore, if all else fails. It's not like you have to deal with him in real time, like it's someone takingup class time or boring you at a party or anything. But I think that, read, again, generously, you might find taht he might actually provoke some interesting conversations ...

As far as your suggestion I reevauluate my opinion, although I understand rooting for the underdog, this was one case where my mind was made up. I didn't and wouldn't participate in the flaming, but I thought my post above made my opinions pretty clear.

Glad you found a new place to comment though - hope you enjoy it as much as I have.

So I just checked out cybermercy's rant? Diatribe? Stream-of-consciousness whatever? Whatever the fuck that was (which Kate mentioned to me). So what part of that idiot's wanking did you agree with?

Standing up for the underdog if you feel they are being unfairly persecuted and agree with them on a spiritual/political/moral level is one thing. But why do so even when they are being a complete moron, and everyone is in agreement that they are being a moron?

Sometimes you just have to sit up and tell someone they are being a complete idiot and embarassing themselves in a public forum. Otherwise, they might get the mistaken notion that they are saying something cool, and their stupid blathering will continue unchecked.

Not a matter of agreeing or anything, just a matter of saying, well, not only is it all harmelss, but it's at least ostensibly on topic, even if .... obliquely put, there ARE things in them you might latch on to and constructively comment on ...

That knife question, THAT I didn't see the (ahem) point of (to paraphrase Samuel Beckett, no puns where none intended ...), AND the nigh unto rediculous response seems to have inconvenienced at least a few people who get those things e-mailed to them ...
