For the first time since Saturday I've got 5 minutes alone.  A house without people, a cat without a watcher, the beauty of sounds only made by me and the cat.

Not that I haven't been having a great time, because I have.  Neil's dad is fabulous, Neil's grandfather is sweet and adorable and more open than my grandfather and I adore him as much as if he was my own blood.  We've had dinner out every night.  We've sampled doughnuts, mexican, bbq, Whole Foods and hot dogs.  And I think tomorrow we're doing fancy Italian.  We went on a three hour drive to picnic in a city called Salado (that we still don't know how to pronounce, becuase are the 'a's long or not?).  We went to a base-ball game last night to watch our team try to win (note, operative word = try).  The boys bought a new garbage disposal, a new handle for a door, a new battery for Neil's car, and then installed them.

The activity, even when we're just sitting around, has been 1000 percent more than I'm used to recently.  Add that to me working for the first time in a year and a half, and even though it's reduced hours it's still making my head spin.

That's why I was so pleased when I got home this afternoon and realized the boys are still out doing their jaunt to Fredericksburg.  Because I could sit and breathe and process for a second.  Sighed.  Had a little lunch.

And then I had to go and take the cat outside with me when I had my celebratory smoke.  She managed to crawl under the deck.  This is a new trick.  A new and exciting and EVIL trick.  A trick that made me turn around, freak, squeek, and then wonder how the hell I was going to get her out of there.  Luckily, stomping on the porch making incredibly loud noises actually scared her enough she crawled out on her own.

Crisis averted.

KATE!! *snuggles* Kate!posts are of the best! Glad to see one.

Glad you're having a good time. Altho', I totally understand company stress *hugs you*

Also? Sassy does the same thing with the porch. Dumping water over the cracks under where she's hiding is also an effective way of getting kitties out from where they shouldn't be (altho', you do end up with a nasty, muddy kitten).

*more snuggles, because there can never be enough kate!cuddles*
