Is it wrong that the first thing I thought was "I wonder why she made that name up." I swear, you get used to thinking of someone as a certain name, and it throws you that they might have a different "real" name.

LOL! i totally understand what you mean though - one of my other flisters acutally used her name in a post and I was like "who the heck is that?"

since I've been cursed with such an idiotically long one, i tend to shorten anyway.

I contemplated hyphenating my last name when I got married, and then decided that it was going to be a pain in the butt.

You have a pretty name. Do most people in RL call you Kate? That's one of my favorite names (and I think it's going to be the name of my "heroine" in my nanowrimo book)

Yeah, my parents actually hyphenated mine, so I've been stuck with it my entire life. I have no idea what I'm going to do if I get married, since three last names seems kind of absurd.

And thank you! Although probably the credit should go to my mom. And yep, I totally go by Kate (and my mom forcibly corrected some of my earlier teachers away from Katie or Kathy). At the risk of sounding terribly concieted, I've always really loved Kate for a name :D
