First things first, the weekend.  The weekend was a real-life honest to goodness WEEKEND!  With going out, and visiting friends, and a BBQ, and everything.  Not only once, but twice.  Ok, it did also involve a football game, which is not my favorite past time, but hey, I can put up with some athletics in exchange for some good company.

It just felt good to be out again.  And to talk to people in person who were interesting, and goofy. 

We actually tried someting new too.  Something frightening, scary, and frankly, bizzare.  A freakish phenomenon that I thought I'd never ever attempt.  No, not drugs.  That would've been normal, compared to this.  Oh no.  It was the truly insane video game called Dance Dance Revolution.  And it was, after a couple of ciders, surprisingly fun.  Yes, I'm going to hell.  Not because I'm living in sin, or because I'm evil, but because I've played DDR and liked it.

Of course, it rained today, so it seemed like the world was suggesting we just stay in and stay bundled under the covers.  The funniest thing about that feeling is that it's actually warm outside.  It's only because the air conditioner's going that it feels even slightly wintry.  It gave us the mental excuse for hot chocolate this morning for breakfast though, which was fun.  I managed to crawl my way out of the house for the lure of a movie and kittens on my lap at some friend's house though.   There's nothing wrong with a bad movie and good company.

Now, with the pimpage:
I'm interim-modding at beegee_icontest, and voting's open for Contest 18. We need more people to run over and vote so that the icon makers feel encouraged. The winner gets a pretty banner too. And hey, if you feel like you want to test your metal, you should think about entering the next contest, Contest 19.

So...just to wrap my head around things (which is why I sat out this challenge, to see how it all works) - you can use the screencap and/or quote to make an icon, but so long as an icon is made of B/G goodness, neither's actually necessary?

no, you've got to incorporate at least one element from the challenge...

all of the icons use at least one pic or a quote (although the icon that says "love" is actually using just a part of one of the quotes, the word "love").

Is it totally confusing? Could that be one of the reasons why we don't get more icons? I have a tendency to write directions in a more complex way than needed, so I can see how that would be weird.

I'm kinda used to the tardis_icons way, where there's 2 challenges - the screencap and the open, and screencap is where you have to use either only the screencaps provided to blend/manipulate, or you have just the main focus of the screencap (though, lately, it's just been use only the caps provided), while the open challenge is set separately and you're given the rundown.

So, for me it's a little weird to just have "Well, here's the caps - there's some lyrics - gimme three icons!" because I'm not sure how it works. Which is why I sat 18 out. And I did go read the rules, it's just that it's not mentioned in there or the challenge that you're supposed to use a pic or quote for the icons. It might be monotonous to mention it every week, but every now and then it changes, and it's still helpful to n00bs like me. Course, there's always asking the mod for clarification - because that's what you guys are there for. :D

i totally understand that it would be confusing - and yeah, the other contests I'm in do seperate things. But I was thinking that it gives more options that way, maybe?

And do you not think this text at the top of the last two challenges is enough?

It's enough now that I know what's going on - which is what I asked you to help figure out. Other people might be able to decipher it better - I'm blaming Monday for the fact that I'm so damned obtuse today.

So, I've been mulling over the fact that the directions on B/G are confusing... (and trust me, you're not the only one to point that out), and made up this whole FAQ. If you had a sec, would you take a look and let me know if it's more confusing or actually makes some sense? I would appreciate it to no end!

LOL - that was actually a critique on the RL people I've met lately... I love my online friends!

more like I've killed too many of my brain cells - i can barely remember what day it is. Sadly, i'm a poster child for why you shouldn't do drugs :D And frankly, the highlights of your icon request for me were that there were 60 of 'em... was there something in specific you were referring to?
