A bit overwhelmed
Sep. 2nd, 2005 01:37 am I don't think I consciously realized this when I signed up for classes.
I'm taking 3 (or possiblly 4) writing intensive classes. One of those is a history of Romani, where we actually learn Romani, in addition to writing papers. One is the history of French Film, which includes film screenings every Tuesday. One is the visual history of the American West (up to 1880) that hasn't met yet, because it's a 3 hr lecture from 7 - 10 pm every Tuesday. The other is Suicide in Janese literature, and I may actually feel closer kinship with those authors in the near future.
The one class that isn't a writing class? 2nd Year Japanese. You know, just, um, because, it's my major.
Translation: What the hell was I thinking?
Ow. I may not be around much any more. At least not for a couple of months. I'm almost afraid this course schedule will make Summer look easy. And on Tuesdays I'm in class from 11 am - 10 pm. With a half an hour break at noon.
At least every class is actually *interesting* as hell.

Date: 2005-09-02 06:39 am (UTC)Having said that... I know quite a bit about the American West, it's a module in the classes I teach. If I can help you, let me know, ok?

Date: 2005-09-02 09:06 pm (UTC)And yeah, I'll try not to die with it. I'm going to look and see if there's anything else open in the Romani time slot, but if there isn't I'm going to bite the bullet and see if I can't do it. I mean, it's not like I'm a EE major or anything! I can do this stuff! *grin*

YOU'RE BACK!
Date: 2005-09-02 09:09 pm (UTC)Hi.
Neil says I have a phone message - I'm answering this and then going to listen. And unf. I dont' think i can drop a class because of finan. aid, but I might look and see if there's anything less strenuous open ... maybe this afternoon.
You're right though, Friday was awesome! I got to sleep in, meander my way into school, have our class, and then managed to locate the last two copy centers! woot.
*snuggles you* talk to you in a min.
Re: YOU'RE BACK!
Date: 2005-09-02 09:11 pm (UTC)ugh! but yes, a less strenuous class would def. be of the good. it stinks to take too many work-heavy classes.

Re: YOU'RE BACK!
Date: 2005-09-02 10:21 pm (UTC)But i tried calling and got voice mail. :( but hopefully I'll catch up to you later?
And I've found a possible way out: the prof who taught my two fav. classes last semester is teaching a Deviance in JLit class at the same time that's still open - I'm trying to see if I can take another 361 course for credit, and if she'll let me take it (since I'm sure we'll be reading texts I've already read), so keep your fingers crossed for me. Even if it's still her usual hard-course work stuff, it's better than having to learn Romani at the same time as Japanese!
