Sherlock 3.02

What the fuck was that? I mean, ok, I'm fine with Sherlock actually not fucking up John's wedding, that was totally ok with me. I'm really pleased with John and Mary both being fairly awesome about Sherlock in general.

But a baby???? What the hell?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

Also the flashback nature of this was too close to the choppy narrative of the first episode, and seemed a bit like lazy plotting more than anything else.

Heh -- your response is almost identical to what I wrote. Ok, I wrote a bit more but the initial response, yeah.

In general, I think the series has been taken over by the fandom. It doesn't feel as cohesive or well done as the first two. They had two years to get it right, and instead, I think they kowtowed (sp?) to the fandom a bit too much. That being said, I did like both Sherlock and Mycroft's character development throughout this series. And I like Mary very much, but I sort of thought that who they revealed she is (or rather what she is) was unnecessary (not saying exactly what because spoilers). I dunno, didn't sit too well, I guess.

Did like CAM, but he didn't feel like a big bad since he wasn't really a presence in the series until the last ep. Yeah, he orchestrated shit, but we didn't really know that because it wasn't revealed until the final ep (and yeah, I knew it was him) but, eh, I just didn't have a connection with him like I did with Moriarty. Of course, Moriarty had a whole season and change dedicated to him, but I suppose because of that CAM didn't seem like an intriguing big bad and series 3 felt like a series that focused on Sherlock and John's interpersonal relationships.

I dunno, I'm left feeling a little meh. If I wanted to read fan fiction I would read it, ya know?
