I couldn't watch the political commentators on TV, so I ended up watching the electoral map on huffpo as the results came in. Luckily had a friend on Skype who who I could "hold hands" with. The nerves, they were killer!
i know, right?! we started class this morning with the map looking very very different (and not pleasant) and everybody throughout the day at school took breaks looking at one computer that basically kept the NYT map up and kept refreshing.
i went over to Sam's tonight so we could gnaw our fingernails and yell at the TV together.
I think it's important during these times you can have someone who can yell at stuff with you! (or hold hands, you know, that's like the same thing, right? as yelling at fox commentators?)
It was nerve wracking because I sat there for most of the night watching VA stay in the red. It was like a party when it switched. LOL But yeah, it's definitely a good thing to be able to experience these high pressure events with someone, because it can totally drive you crazy. One saving grace while watching earlier was knowing that California, Oregon, and Washington were all going to go blue. Knowing that 69 electoral votes were in the bag while the map loomed red before the polls closed out west, definitely kept morale up. I thought it was going to come down to the 29 electorals in Florida. Imagine that... a presidential race where Florida wasn't a factor!
Hmm, that last line came out a bit wrong. Every vote counts! Every. Damn. One. But what I am saying is BO won without needing those 29 EVs and that's a stunning victory if you think about it. :)
Ha! Actually this Floridian thinks Florida not being a factor is a good thing, because we are so very VERY messed up down here. I'm not even talking about left or right, I'm talking about WE CAN'T GET POTHOLES FIXED. EVER. Not even in the wealthy suburbs.
