ok, these are the things right now

• holy crap, how about that debate.... actually, how about the insta-meme of lady-binders (binders full of women) that happened like three seconds afterwards.  way to meme internet!  I get to vote by absentee ballot and it came in the mail last week
• test last week - did NOT do as well as I wanted, but did better on speaking portion and written portion than I expected.
• test next week - HOLY CRAP ANOTHER TEST.  i'll start studying next week.
• HOLY CRAP HOMEWORK DOUBLED THIS WEEK.
• i think i might be getting better at Japanese you guys!
• there is a specialty coffee roaster down the street and I bought coffee from him sat.  He's been to LA once, for one day, and went to the cafe in my neighborhood (Intelligentsia).  SMALL WORLD
• I did a three minute presentation on liking cats more than dogs this week. *hangs head*  it was just that my presentation the week before on one of my favorite literary authors went over like a bag of bricks. Next week I'm going back to major-related crap
• when it rains stores put out plastic covers for your umbrella, so you can stop at the store, put an umbrella cover over your dripping umbrella, and not drag water in with you when you're inside.  IT WORKS.
• i had pancakes on saturday - so worth it.
• Supernatural!!  I am watching you!  (it is very difficult to watch this episode by episode since I devoured the first five seasons over like three weeks).
• Battlestar Gallactica!  I am REwatching you!  In season three already, because I watched it while I was sick.  It's an awesome show.  Though not one I feel particularly fannish about.  I'd so break off a piece of Apollo and eat him with my teeth though. OMG.

roommate has OKed me having a party at the house, but wants me to have it in the afternoon so there isn't a chance of someone staying over if they miss the trains.  (also she has said she will hide in her room because it's a whiskey tasting party and she doesn't want to hang around while other people are drinking whiskey).  Poll #xxxx What should I do?

Admittedly, I didn't watch the debate, but I followed it on Twitter. The binder thing is hilarious though. I don't see how anyone can vote for Romney/Ryan, but I know plenty of people who are.

So is the homework load less than, more than, or about the same as your summer session? I just need a gauge here. ;) And I bet you are getting better at Japanese! Can't live somewhere and use it as much as you do without improving. Immersion is the best.

I laughed so hard about your presentation, although despite being a cat owner growing up, I do disagree with your position.

We have those plastic bag umbrella covers at some stores near me. It is a good idea!

Well, I voted. My initial reaction was just to say, it's your birthday and your party, do what you want, and I probably would've voted that way if you were in your last couple months there, but I didn't. Not sure what CLICKY meant. Anyway, if it was a tequila party, would she not hide in her room? Or vodka? Your roommate is way too high maintenance. :(

so maybe the rain cover thing is just in places where it actually, you know, rains? i confess having lived only in CA & TX that it's not a good sample for that (well, it rained in TX, but you could wait an hour and it would be sunny and no puddles too)

and it's actually tough to say between summer and now - summer i started out with like HUMONGOUS amounts of homework - this has not hit those levels yet. but summer near the end got easier, and i think this program is ramping up. it's also focusing on things i find harder, believe it or not, like speaking conversations and, you know, like communication.

i didn't actually really agree with my presentation, TBH. but it got people talking, which was better than them sitting there numbling going "eh, i don't have any questions" :D

and the clicky is a holdover from LJ poll generator - when it first came out we used to make polls that just allowed you to click, because check boxes are fun! and so i always include a meandering click box in my click-able polls now, so you can get it out of your system if you so choose ;)

We could use the umbrella condoms in more places, sadly I've only seen them offered sporadically.

Hopefully the homework thing stays manageable. Speaking and having conversations is difficult for me in English. Sometimes it's like, "what do you mean I can't IM It? I know we are in the same room, but I like the quiet and talking is soooo tedious." LOL

LOL I still find that presentation hilarious. A classic example you doing what you have to do.
