I was distracted by everyone else's posts and forgot to post. One of the most common occurrences for me. I may not comment, but I'm totally reading. LJ is my crack.
If I was going to write, I would've written something like this...
First day of class today. I learned many things:
1. That I got a B in the last class. ROCK.
2. That I kinda forgot a lot of Japanese over the weekend.
3. That I remembered more than I forgot.
4. That men, when they notice you change your hair, are willing to point out the obvious with sayings like "You dyed your hair." Only the graduate student followed it up with "It looks good." Yes, there's an argument for liking older men right there, in a nutshell.
5. That it's been a hell of a long time since I've been on any kind of exercise machine, but apparently it's good for both my body and my karma, since I actually saw one of the many people I liked from class last semester at the gym -- and she said hi, unprompted. Oh, and I had that endorphin buzz after exercising.
6. That I can't cook artichokes. I always start them too late and never get them tender enough. Luckily, there were other veggies on the menu for dinner.
Now, go read some smut or something, will ya?

Date: 2005-07-12 04:49 am (UTC)That is so awesome about exercising and meeting people there :)
Artichokes...huh. My g-ma cooked one of those when I was there... the first time it was...okay...a bit over-cooked but not bad. The 2nd time I was forced to eat it? Oh god, kill me now. Yeah, I'm not sure I"ll be eating those for a while ;)

Date: 2005-07-13 08:49 pm (UTC)(although that doesn't mean you have to like 'em too - i also like asparagus, which is never consumed around here because Neil and Felix both hate it)

Date: 2005-07-13 08:52 pm (UTC)I, too, love asparagus. Oh man; definitely one of my all time faves. Not sure if sassy likes it or not, tho' (tho' she loves brussels sprouts and spinach...like OMG! purring, snuggling, can't get enough of them love)

Date: 2005-07-12 05:40 am (UTC)And you have to go through so much work just to get a little pleasure from the fuckers. It's like eating crabs. I mean you have to crack the exoskeleton of something that looks suspiciously like a giant SEA SPIDER (or what spiders were before they walked on land) and then scoop out the white tender spider meat (which is not nearly enough for the amount of shit you have to put up with). So do not understand the crab attraction. I'm generally even too lazy to peel my own shrimp. I want them peeled ahead of time...and cooked dammit!

Date: 2005-07-13 08:52 pm (UTC)Well, ok, artichokes take a while, but the taste when you get 'em prepared is so worth it! Besides, green vegetables are good for us and we don't eat enough of 'em. Artichokes are one vegie that both Neil and I agree on.
And if you're so worried about crabs you don't have to order them. I've always been a bit weirded out by them, but softshell crab was good when I had it. Of course, I had it in Texas, and it was deep fried. I think mud would taste good deep fried.

Date: 2005-07-13 08:55 pm (UTC)I was kind of surprised, but it was a very big change - from that dirty-dish water color (that people tell me looks like ash) to bright deep mohagany red. I did, however, feel a little surpised when they commented.
And hate them? I think you're in the majority, but I didn't realize they were so dispised. *grin*
