It's just one of those funny things you forget when you're bored with the daily hum drum of a job that has no ending and really had no beginning. A job that wraps you up in its painful regularity, showing an endless hallway of relentlessly unchanging day in and day out.

It's one of those things you forget to fantasize, when you remember the classroom spaces that were your favorites, your friends and brilliant teachers; that crazy mental hustle and bustle that you felt like you were just starting to appreciate when you left.

It's the thing that never shows up in those daydreams. It's the stuff that they never seem to write on the syllabus. It's the oil that makes the wheels of the brain grind smoothly.

It's homework.

And, let me tell you now, do not (i repeat: do not) get sick and slack off and put aside your homework. Don't do it for a day or an hour, much less a weekend.

Because it's a pain in the ass to get yourself back to the place you started from, that mythical 'ahead' place where you have plenty of time to study for tests and you get your papers done a day in advance. Don't put the books down for a minute because as soon as you do, you slip from ahead to behind, and you feel like you're clawing your way back up.

However, I did get (yay me!) an A on my linguistics homework and a B- on my first lit paper in 7 years. The sad part is that I got marked down for the grammar. And I deserved to be marked down for the grammar. Sadly, I just came from a job where I was an editor of sorts. Ye gods, TBG, you should shudder at what I left behind.

Oh, I so know what you mean. I haven't been out of school long enough to have forgotten...

But yay for your A! *hugs*

I am currently sitting in the computer lab "researching fort sumter" or, in layman's terms, replying to my kate *grin*.

Congrats on the A! *does a squeal of joy for you* On the other hand, eek! you need like a beta or something *grin*.

I hope you're able to catch up on your homework, love, as I can't wait to catch up with you (I missed you!). Tho', I got my syllabus, and eek! good god, it's a lot of reading, homework, etc. I don't think I'll be reading fanfic for a while *bites nails*

Don't worry, I'll check back, I'm like the official stalker of your journal *grin*.

God, I loved my class so damn much. It was like night and day from the last one. I am so glad I listened to my gut and got out of the first class, 'cos this one? A lot of fun and well-thought out. Also, no 45 minute memorised presentations 2 days into class. And the prof so loves history and it shows, and I think I'll have fun, and barring that, I'll at least be able to survive, lol. Even if i did fall flat on my face. I swear to god, that college is going to kill me. It was like the bleeding 5th time i've fallen there (last time i broke my toe).

I'd love to beta your assignments, but i still have to do Ipos. And god, I'm like the worst beta ever *self pity*.

Well, I hope he's not too hard you, sweetling (oh god! the fic has infiltrated my brain! also of note, when I left you it was too angsty. afterward? I cried! I never cry whilst reading. OMG! so good, but some really sad moments).

and is it really geeky that i'm glad i equal researching fort sumter?

Well, as exciting as fort sumter is (and it really is, i didn't realise this), you're much more fun. *snuggles*

Anyway, can't wait to hear from you!

~e!
