geocities is over.  i've been trying to go through some of my fandom stuff and figure out which authors had archives there (there weren't a ton, but ... they're out there).  Hopefully most of their stuff is archived somewhere else.

and just because [livejournal.com profile] dwg has awesome link-fu, I am now aware of giant spiders taking over Yokohama. And you should be too. they are AWESOMESAUCE.

I have to say that the biggest surprise to me in that PCWorld article is that Angelfire and Tripod still exist. I thought they'd gone the way of the dodo ages
ago.

It's a damn shame, though - there's bound to be a lot of good fic lost in the ether when the place goes down.

I remember the golden years of GeoCities but I never had a page. I did at one point have a half-assed AOL Homepage, and I suppose livejournal is their equivalent now. This is my base of my operations for the online world.

*nods* I saw it in one LJ post, didn't hear about that (made an entry in my LJ hoping some did see it).
Sadly a lot of Spuffyarchives are there. Including Sandra Schimmel or Mercy's illusion. (That's all I can think of but there are so much more.) It's really sad.

But I've thinking: If you're using the wayback machine now to find it they are archiving missing links.
I hope they get it done in time.
