Books anyone?

Number of books I own...
Dear gods, I have absolutely no idea. Ok, going to count one shelf and multiply out: 44 x 6 = 264 x 6 (minus the 1 short shelf triple stacked with paperbacks) = 1320. So let's say approximately 1500 books. 1500 books!!!!!! Yes, I did include Neil's, because they're all shoved together. And since I packed 'em and mostly unpacked 'em, they're mine! Whew. No wonder most of the moving truck was filled with books.
Last book bought...
Well, I bought a bunch at the same time:
The Little Friend, Donna Tartt
The Crown of Silence, Storm Constantine
Monstrous Regiment, Terry Pratchett
Killing Time, Caleb Carr
Last book read...
Well, I'm still in the middle of Killing Time, although, frankly, the whole tone of the thing bothers me. The main character is sanctimonious while trying to be humble, but still sanctimonious. People with egos shouldn't be allowed to pretend they don't have them.
Let's just say Monstrous Regiment instead.
Five books that mean a lot to me...
Five?? I can only pick FIVE? Evil.
1. If On A Winter's Night A Traveler by Italio Calvino
2. The Hero and The Crown by Robin McKinley
3. Synners (and or Fools) by Pat Cadigan
4. Dhalgren by Sam Delany
5. The Haunting of Hill House by Shirley Jackson
dammit, 5 is not enough. grr. There are way too many others.
OK ... Next five victims...

Date: 2005-06-14 12:24 am (UTC)And doesn't Delany write some hot smut?? I agree - the naughty bits were/are awesome. Among other things. And Calvino was brought to my attention in an Italian Fict. class and I've loved him ever since.
Don't worry about the tag - I wasn't sure if you'd already done it (since it's been going around for a couple of months) - but there's absolutely no rush!
