hello again from kate's throbbing jaw

will this teeth thing never end? I was on the receiving end of a root canal on Monday, after having spent most of last week in considerable (and mounting) pain. The dentist had, on Friday, given me antibiotics, vicodin, and a reference to the specialist who could see me monday morning. So I basically spent the weekend doped to the gills (i was taking halves, but they still worked), not really doing much but consuming TV.
Monday dawned, and I found out my root was "angry" (this from the wacky orthodontist who was really quite sweet and very cool). However, the entire thing took FOREVER and by the end of it my jaw was killing me from having to stay open as long as it had, and from, oh, having a root extracted. I got home yesterday and as soon as the various and sundry Novocaines exhausted themselves (she had to actually anesthetize the inside of my tooth 4 times, along with the double shot to numb my jaw out, YAY) I was in splintering pain.
Splintering in that whole suddenly I move the wrong way and there's a shot of pain that ricochets off of the nerves waking up in my jaw.
Needless to say I didn't make it into school, and haven't even really been able to think in a straight line until today.
I am so tired of things being wrong with my teeth. I'm glad I did get them cleaned and worked on, but oh my god I could really do with a weekend where I wasn't having to baby some part of my mouth, and where my head was clear of tooth/jaw pain.
ETA: i am so behind on comments and on flist reading, and i apologize but i'm just gonna give 'em a pass. if we were in mid conversation and you want an answer, let me know now? :D

Date: 2009-03-10 10:33 pm (UTC)Because there's really nothing anyone else can do about tooth pain. Which is one of the worst pains there is, in my opinion.
*HUGS*
