of course darling! how much money do they want to spend (ish) and what kind of eaters are they (like do they prefer comfort food-type, or bbq, or texmex, or veggie)? Do they want a more formal fancy place, or a more relaxed fancy place?
love it - they're super sweet, it's one of those nice, but relaxed places (so you can go in jeans and not feel funny, but go in an nice outfit and feel like it's an upscale night out). food is fresh and nummy and the servers are actually all nice.
for true steak & potatoes, although it is a little pricier, the best local place (that isn't a chain) is DEFINITELY Austin Land & Cattle ((different than chain Texas Land & Cattle). Again great relaxed dining and great service, and the steaks come with dipping sauces (like buttery mmmmmm) that are fantastic: http://www.austinlandandcattlecompany.com/dinner.html
and for a steak & potatoes with a little bit of a Texas influence (so more of the southwest kind of stuff), one of my other ALL time favorite places to eat in Austin (their mixed grill is SO good and so much food and mmmm i'm hungry just thinking about it) is Ranch 616. This is the restaurant that convinced me i would love living in Austin. http://ranch616.ypguides.net/page/nyep/Dinner_Entrees.html
hope that helps sweetest! if you don't like the looks of those let me know and i'll find three more :D
