I'll always have a soft spot for Christian Bale

Not becasue of Empire of the Sun, but for American Psycho. Damn he was great in that movie. It's not an American classic or anything, and I laughed a lot through it at what the rest of the audience thought were totally innappropriate points, but I thought it captured some innane quality that pervaded the 80s. And I think he's going to be great in Batman Returns, too, despite the fact that it's another remaker's remake remake...

(snigger) I charge you to go forth and find a copy of 'Velvet Goldmine.' If you haven't seen it already, that is. It's . . . interesting. Not the greatest movie since 'The Godfather,' but interesting.

I don't want to spoil it. But there is one scene (sadly, Mr. Bale's not in this one, though he's pretty decent in this) that will knock your socks off.
