... but because we have thumbs so we can make coffee. ~Flash Rosenberg
Yesterday I accomplished... going out to coffee with
lostgirlslair and
mrtwstedwhsprs. It had been far far too long since we'd whiled away an afternoon drinking too much coffee, smoking too much, and talking.
In other achievable events, I finished Murakami's After Dark last night. I'm not quite sure if I've read too much other Japanese fiction now, or what, but I wasn't as excited by him as I used to be. But, no, Kafka on the Shore was, indeed, a better book, slightly different than what I'd come to expect from him, but better. So I figured I'd actually read some of the theory on Murakami and see if there's anything that will provide food for thought (that's on the agenda for tonight, along with the new Daily Show!)
Today I spent a heap of money (although not as much as I could have) getting the tooth I chipped over the holiday fixed. And we managed to remove the christmas decorations and return the living room to it's pre-holiday state. It's funny how much room the christmas tree, christmas cards, christmas stockings, and all of the other various and sundry christmas things take up. They're always fun to unpack, but this year it was also a great relief to put them away.

Date: 2008-01-09 04:30 am (UTC)After Dark is the most recent book translated into english just this year, so yeah, it would make sense that would be the one you're hearing about (and YAY you're hearing about it! that's so cool!).
The Elephant Vanishes is the first Murakami I'd ever read - I hope you like the stories in it! Let me know what you think when you get done with some of em, ok?
