We spent Saturday mourning.  It rained all day.

We decided Sunday that we probably shouldn't spend it the same way, so we went to breakfast, and then to pick up some things for my trip, and found that we could talk about Felix a little bit.   It still rained.  All day.

Yesterday, though, we went out to grab some groceries, since we were finally recovering our appetites.  The rain was letting up.  On a hunch, I suppose, I took us to the PetCo.  And they had kittens.  And we took one home with us.  And his name is Ash.  You can see what he looks like here.

We needed this. I can tell, because not only is today sunny, but we're both doing better.  It was so hard on Sunday to come home and not have Felix be here.  And although Ash is already a totally different cat than Felix was, he's helping - we remember the good about our most precious lady cat, and he is reminding us that there's more good out there.

And I'll be able to leave for Japan knowing that there's a feline person watching over Neil.  That's important too.

ETA: fixed the gallery link... sorry about that :D

*hugs* I'm so glad you have another kitty now. Losing Misty would have been ten times harder if I hadn't had Turtle at home waiting to be petted.

I'm sorry.

And I think you're very right.

Welcome to Ash!

I'm sorry you're hurting. I'm very sorry for your loss. I tried to look at the picture of Ash but the link said I was forbidden, but I'm sure he's a cutie.

Take it nice and slow. :hugs:

*hugs* I know what you're going through, babe. It's been two weeks since my dog passed, and it just sucks like whoa.

So glad you have a new familiar watching over you and Neil.

I was so sorry to hear about your cat. I have a cat myself and know how much they can mean to you. *hugs* I'm glad to hear you've got a new kitten and he's helping you feel better.

Ash is adorable. Hugs to you and Neil, and happy chin-scritches to Ash. (I can attest the healing power of kittens. My husband brought home Mina-kitten at a time when I needed cheering up in a big way, and she has taken her job most seriously.)

*hugs you so much*

I saw a little wooden statue today of a figure, sort of like an angel, holding a cat close. I hope it's okay that I thought of you and Felix when I saw it, and sent some good thoughts your way as I thought about the wonderful times you shared with her.

Ash is a lovely boy, and I'm sure will bring you much joy.

*hugs again*

AW!!!! *squeals*...He looks just like my little Andy that I found living in a shoebox in an alley in downtown Memphis a few years ago.

You absolutely needed it, sweetie. When I lost my cat back in 94 I didn't think I'd get another either. But three days later I found one that I that needed me. I needed something to channel my love into, and there she was (my little Sophie) needing someone to love her and give her a home.

Felix would want you to give your love to another kitty...just like you gave it to him. Your love is too valuable to not be used and lavished. *hugs you hard* :-)

I believe that getting Ash was the best course of action, too. You need small furry critters in your life. And it sounds stupid, but it is possible to grieve and have a new pettable lovely in your life too. It helps. A lot. People looked at my family funny when we had to put Ripper down, but then got Jet 3 days later (after having found him the evening after we took Rip to the vets, I think?!) but honestly it helped a lot, and I don't feel like I have anything unfinished regarding Ripper, we still think of him fondly etcetera, but having cuteballofannoyingfluffdestructodog helped loads. Plus, now Corporate Pirate won't be lonely. Because we can't have that!

When are you off to Japan? :)

I'm so sorry but I'm also glad you adopted a new furry cutie. They help mend broken hearts.

*hugs you and skritches Ash*
Take care, the both of you.
