need to go to bed, really
Apr. 15th, 2005 01:42 amBut I can't resist. I bought this flower today:

It's an ASTERACEAE, and it's called Osteospermum barberae. And yes, because of my Native Plants class I'm actually more comfortable calling it that than I am calling it an African Daisy. Strange how the educational world changes your brain. But it's now living in my backyard, along with other plants that got watered and put into the soil.
It's a quiet night (been a quiet day, too). The cat's currently screaming (well, meowing, but it's loud and strident) to go outside, even though she's not allowed out after dark. I've had zero motivation today, well, besides cooking a fabulous dinner, and can't seem to muster the energy to go to bed. Which will probably be a problem come class time tomorrow. The cat has now moved to sit on top of my homework and simply glare balefully at me. I think that's actually an improvement. I've been surprised she hasn't done her usual 'where's Neil?' meow, but it's me that's missing him more this time. She seems to just want to play outside. A whole lot. What is it about cats that makes them want to roll in the dirt when they're usually so fastidious?
See, these are the kind of thoughts running around in my head. Sadly, I'm not even motivated enough to bludgeon them into some kind of sexy shape. Well, regardless, may you all have a long and lovely fabulous evening tonight and beautiful Friday tomorrow.

Date: 2005-04-15 07:00 am (UTC)Poor Felix :( Sassy told me she knows what it feels like to live with fascist humans who impose ridiculous curfews on their cats.
I'm also a bit concerned as to how thoughts of glaring kitties could take a sexy shape *grin*.
You have a splendid evening and a wonderful tomorrow, as well!

Date: 2005-04-15 04:05 pm (UTC)Appetizers: one of the best bries on the planet: St. Andre (triple creme), and a California Goat cheese called Humbolt Fog with a batard of cheesy-sourdough bread.
Main course: wrapped skirt steak (don't know if you've ever seen these - they're skirt steaks that are tenderized, cut into one inch strips, then wrapped so they're round medalions - kind of like a meat version of Princess Lea's hair, but much tastier), grilled with salt & pepper and topped with crumbled blue cheese; purple artichokes (found them at Whole foods - although they don't stay purple once cooked); and pine-nut couscous.
Although, I'd bought wine to go with and had this local brewed root-beer instead.
Tonight is asparagus & garlic/goat cheese turkey sausage on rainbow farfalle in a light creme sauce. Maybe I'll open it then. *grin*

Date: 2005-04-16 01:24 am (UTC)and he'll be home on sunday, so that's good. I think the cat's voice wore out, finally, so she took a nap. Her whole meowing thing is completely redeemed when she's asleep because she's so freakishly cute.
