Ah, retcon! I had to go look that up... but it's way too appropriate. Damn Joss and his annoying tend towards inconsistency and towards explaining cannon not actually IN cannon, but in the commentary. I didn't even notice the whole 'he fought for it' opinion was held by anybody until a couple of months ago (clueless me, I suppose)! Sigh.
