So I just got my mass & pop culture paper back and made the mistake of conflating a discussion about youth subcultures in post-war britian with punk - and my paper was knocked down a grade because of it.  I made the mistake of lumping a discussion of Teddy Boys and skinheads together under one title and made it in front of a professor whose main area of specification is punk.

yep.  stupid.  stupid.  I just know not much about the era and frankly didn't have dates associated with this stuff and honestly thought the discussion WAS about punk even though it never says it.

sly, malign madness sometimes lurks around the corner...

I feel it waiting for me in the shadows somewhere.  It was that kind of a day - banal paperwork shuttled from one office to another (via my own two feet), a paper with a mistake I shouldn't have made, too much coffee, some bad grad student food, a guest lecturer who was once the Ambassador to Korea.  A girl on campus from 10 am - 9 pm.  Me attempting to stay awake and on point and brilliant while my allergies make it feel as if my sinuses are being tickled from the inside (trust me, it sounds cute, but it is not... just weird).  Tomorrow morning I stupidly, madly, naively agreed to a check up appointment at 8:45 am. 

The best and brightest side of today?  antennapedia reminded me that I was a day late on the summer_of_giles sign up post and now it's ON!  So if you didn't already see the notifications -- check it out and sign up!!

I go now to huddle on the couch and keep responding to the sign ups as they roll in.
