Okay, I took a minute and ran this by my mother, who has coped with similar situations. Here's her advice:
"Do not change a single word, and send a copy not only to the instructor, but to the Head of the Department. I have never heard of a college course that provided study materials, graded on a curve, with a median grade that low." (I'm paraphrasing; she said it a lot more elegantly. Used bigger words too.)
From my camp, I agree. From what I gather, this class seems geared towards making students fail. -BJ
