we named the dog indiana!
Actually, we named her Domino. And I would like to present, to you, the newest addition to our household:

She's a two-year old Shiba Inu/Heeler mix, adopted from Austin Dog Rescue (they rescue the dogs that are in the pound but aren't found homes). We met her on Monday night, had the home visit on Wednesday, and she came home with us tonight! She's settling in, doesn't care one whit about the cat (although he is still trying to figure out what the big fuzzy alien thing is doing in the living room), and is super sweet and a little shy. We love her to pieces already. And here are some other images of random adorableness from her first night home.

and I totally agree with you about the fox thing! I even wanted to call her the japanese word for fox (kitsune) but it was voted down... :D

What a pretty little girl! And yeah, her face really is foxy, isn't it? So very cute!
Do they know for sure that she's Shiba Inu and cattle dog (aka heeler)? Or was that someone's best guess? I love playing guess-the-breed-mix, so I'm always curious about these things. *g*
Congratulations on your new family member! I wish you all many years of happiness together.

And yeah, she's totally got a foxy face! and the sweetest little walk ever.
As far as the breed guess - I think it's the vet's educated guess, because her pound papers had "border colllie" which is *totally* wrong. Her hair is very different (more coarse than border collies), and her body is much smaller and she has a kind of ruff that we're not sure is because she's a recent mommie or not. It may not come out in the pics, but she's definitely got something different going on that's more similar to other shiba inus. :D *is a complete dork and i could go on for even longer about this but will stop*
Anyway, thank you so much darling woman!! I think we're going to have a grand time with her as the newest part of our family!

*flails with dog!lurve* Oh, she' s just beautiful, hun! My own pup passed last year, and everyone's ready for a new dog but me, but I sure miss having another member of the family. Kudos to you for going the rescue route. That is AWESOME and you are made of kick-ass win!

And you know, you'll be ready when you're ready. It hurts to lose a loved one. It took us two years of looking (and less than a week of finding) to stumble on our lovely lady up there, so you know, all in good time!
And we're both such rescue kids - besides, older dog means really lovely mannerisms and she's mostly over her terrible twos, so it's a huge bonus!
