lol exactly! It's funny, because I never really thought before that my not having paid as much attention to S7 as to the earlier seasons would radically alter the way I percieved something on the show ... I didn't figure the plot, etc changed that much (I mean, except for my fantasies of a bot!Giles instead of the real guy for the latter seasons). Now I am aware of what a difference a season can make.

And thank you lady, for letting me know your opinion so gently and sweetly! As I tried to indicate (but probably not terribly clear) I do realize that cannonically S7 Spike clearly went and got his soul on purpose, and that my fantasies the other way will just have to remain with me as a fandom belief, not a cannon one.
