things I learned today

So, what did I learn today?
Do not attempt to read a Charlaine Harris novel right after you've read the 'all old movies suck' entry (and a good half of the comments, at least) at iblamethepatriarcy. Or after you've read this fic rant about over-idolization of a single character. Basically, the upshot is that Sookie Stackhouse novels, while entertaining, are never ever ever going to be anything other than mediocre fiction with a lot of problems.
Also, do leave the house because apparantly it puts everyone in a better mood. Even me. For, like, at least 10 minutes.
